What I’m Learning about the Coronavirus

Coronavirus at church

What I’m learning about the Coronavirus is that it hasn’t been about the virus for a while. I am paying attention to the new data coming in about serology tests and how lethal the virus really is. I don’t think we care. We haven’t been asking the right questions. A worldview absent from the truth has co-opted the Coronavirus. Public policy isn’t discussed based on evidence but based on how you feel. I think we are seeing a religion instead of truth.

At the start of the lock-downs were any of the following questions asked from a plurality of people? When did the “curve” start? How is the virus transmitted? How effective is lock-downs? Also, how effective are masks? You are met with virtue signalling instead of answers. We close the economy down, therefore sending a precedent for future fears. As numbers come in this virus is like the flu in death rate. We don’t see this in the news and usually have to look to scholarly articles written on the Coronavirus to get the truth.

Why is truth mostly absent in the media for the Coronavirus? I believe it is about worldview. “We are in this together,” is a line that a cult would say. The idea that only we can save you. You essential are putting your faith in the government to deliver you from the Coronavirus. Instead of yourself or relying on the Will of God your relying on the Government to get you back on your feet. This faith blinds you from asking questions. Christians are not suppose to fear death but we have been doing it since March. Fear should not be our first instinct. Faith in God should be our first instinct.

We will never get to the perfect solution to viruses, even the Coronavirus. We will see hospitalizations of the Coronavirus even thru parts of the summer. Viruses don’t bend to the wish-casting of progressives or government elites. Achievement of perfection just thru existing will never happen this side of Heaven. We are fallen. What we can do is stifle the livelihood of people that want to live out their purpose. If we store up our treasures in Heaven this virus should have no power over us.

We are closing down church gatherings for long periods of time. We know who the Coronavirus attacks. People who have immune problems and the very elderly. We are not giving the option of adulting to people. Everyone knows the risk of the virus and is not required to go to church. Until now, most epidemics we fought is by quarantining the vulnerable. Now we are quarantining the healthy. This simple fact has brought on virtue signaling from individuals that I never thought would do it. People forget that we have had people died during the quarantine. Preventing the church from worshiping together is bad. We are dismantling the will of god during the Coronavirus out of fear.

 Hebrews 10:23-25 (NASB):
Let us hold fast the confession of our hope
without wavering, for He who promised
is faithful; and let us consider how to
stimulate one another to love and good
deeds, not forsaking our own assembling
together, as is the habit of some, but
encouraging one another; and all the more
as you see the day drawing near.
