Even though we can’t see it spiritual battles are a constant in our lives. The battle is to win our soul for the darkness or light. Even though we go thru these battles there is hope for us. Jesus conquered death so we can have life. We must constantly be prepared for the of the barriers that life gives us. With the aid of the Word and Christ anything is possible.
1 Corinthians 15:55-56 (NASB):
“’O Death, where is your Victory? O Death, where is your sting?’ The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law; but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
The verse is very encouraging. Whatever life confronts us we know that death itself will not take us. The daily struggles we go thru has no power over us. Jesus gave us this power thru his resurrection. We have a friend in the struggle for our soul. Lean on him with all you have. What greater ally to have then someone who death itself cannot overtake.
Ephesians 6:11-13 (NASB):
“Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.”
Daily we must be prepared to fight against the forces. Constantly reading the word of God arms against temptations of the flesh. Complacency is not enough to get thru this life. You need to be constantly in a fighting mode to preserve truth. Every action and every thought must be filtered thru then lens of the gospel. If it doesn’t it becomes very easy to create your own truth. Your own truth ends of being the deeds of the flesh. Many of us want to believe our own truth is righteous. The only Truth that has validity is the truth from the Word of God. The word of God later in that passage is metaphorically called the sword. You will lose the spiritual battle without the sword.
Romans 5:3-5 (NASB):
“And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.”
The struggles of this life give us hope. Our perseverance should be a beacon for those around us. When we are constantly winning these spiritual battles, others will take notice. They will see the person you are despite your circumstances. This last verse should give all of us encouragement. We should look to the finish line always. God should always be our goal. Praise God in your spiritual battles. The value of your soul is infinite. The powers of darkness already know you gave your soul to him.
